Project incubator Filmpool Nord Development
Background
Filmpool Nord Development (FPND) is a project incubator aiming to develop ideas and projects/products within the audiovisual industry to better meet the national and international world of funding. Filmpool Nord Development makes it possible for us at Filmpool Nord to take responsibility for and to focus on development and development processes for feature films, television series, short films, documentaries and animations over a project period of three years. During these three years we will lay the foundation for continued long term work with development issues in northern Sweden. The project has been financed with funds reallocated from Filmpool Nord’s operating budget together with regional and EU funding. The project will be subject to ongoing evaluation and assessment, and we are interested in new development procedures and working methods in the initial phases of project establishment. The gender aspect will be emphasised in this project.
How?
Projects can be submitted by email or post to Filmpool Nord Development. You are welcome to phone or email the project manager, Sirel Peensaar, should you have any questions or wish to make contact, before submitting your project. Sirel Peensaar and Per-Erik Svensson jointly decide which ideas/projects are suitable for inclusion in Filmpool Nord Development. Our decisions are based on among other things
- an assessment of the potential capacity of the idea/project to be fully funded after the development phase
- gender aspects of the project in terms of content and realisation
- the project’s international connection and potential
- the genre of the project (we are interested in developing all genres in the audiovisual industry)
- the project’s regional ties
- the project’s openness to new development methods and research.
- the project’s professional status (FPND is not an education/further education training programme)
Participant fee and Contract of Collaboration
An administration/participation fee is to be paid by the author/owner of the idea who will be invoiced by FPND. The amount varies from 500 – 5,000 SEK depending on the size of the project. Participation in FPND will not exclude you from approaching other potential partners and funding bodies for the development of your project. The contract that is drawn up between the author and FPND only covers FPND commitment in terms of the project. Note that inclusion of a project in FPND does not automatically imply that Filmpool Nord will later invest in the production phase of the project. FPND will not provide any explanation as to why a project or idea is turned down. You can expect a few weeks to pass before we can answer any inquiry pertaining to your project.
FPND incubator
Once agreement has been reached with the author that their project will be further developed within FPND, a joint strategy and implementation plan is drafted based on an analysis of the project’s development potential, specific requirements, weaknesses and strengths. This is done at a joint strategic planning meeting between FPND and the author. Participation is then possible in one or several of the development phases described below, according to a schedule that is drawn up jointly.

A time report detailing private work hours is to be submitted for each participating project i.e. the time, for example, invested by the author in FPND and in the development phase, which has not been reimbursed by FPND.
